The trail
See the route before you go
Starting point
Meet outside the Falkirk Wheel visitor centre entrance, near the main basin viewing plaza. Follow local directional road signs to the visitor car park where designated parking bays and accessible facilities are available.
What to bring
Sturdy walking shoes or trainers, waterproof jackets for changeable Scottish weather, a bottle of drinking water, and a fully charged smartphone to follow your trail clues.
Terrain & accessibility
Smooth, well-maintained tarmac and gravel pathways with level surfaces throughout the main basin area, suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Safety
Always supervise children closely near open water, canal basins, and steep drops. Stay on designated pedestrian footpaths, watch for passing cyclists, and never climb on safety barriers or working engineering structures.
