Along the way, young explorers will discover the history of the Union Canal, uncover the engineering behind the aqueduct, learn about the people who built and worked on the waterways, and search the landscape for wildlife and signs of nature. Pip's adventure isn't about staring at a screen. He'll encourage you to put your phone down, look carefully, listen to the world around you, answer questions and discover things for yourself. Look. Terrain & accessibility

This is a long outdoor walking adventure of approximately 10.45 km and around 3 hours, depending on walking speed and time spent at checkpoints. The route includes canal towpaths, countryside paths and natural outdoor terrain. Surfaces may be uneven, muddy, wet or slippery, particularly after poor weather. The route is not suitable for all mobility levels or all types of wheelchair or pushchair. Please assess current conditions and your group's abilities before starting. Stay on appropriate paths and follow any local signs, barriers and access instructions.

Safety

Please put safety before the adventure. Stay on designated paths and keep away from unsafe edges, steep drops and deep water. Do not climb the aqueduct, bridges, walls, canal structures or other historic features. Keep children supervised at all times. The GPS adventure does not replace adult supervision. When Pip asks you to look around, stop somewhere safe before looking at your phone. Never walk while staring at the screen. Do not enter the water or approach wildlife. Watch animals quietly from a safe distance. Do not pick plants, disturb nests or dens, or remove historic objects, stones or anything else from the environment. Check the weather before setting out and be prepared for Scottish conditions. If conditions become unsafe, stop the adventure and return safely.
